My First-Person Guide to Surviving Little Nightmares 3 Chapter 1: Necropolis
No warm-up, no mercy—Little Nightmares 3 drops you straight into the Necropolis, and I'm not gonna lie, my palms were sweaty from the first minute. Having tackled this chapter more times than I can count since the 2026 release, I've got the lowdown on every puzzle, every doll, and every heart-stopping moment with that colossal Monster Baby. So buckle up, because I'm about to walk you through how I survived—and how you can, too.
Picking Your Poison and Getting the Hang of Things
Right off the bat, you choose Low or Alone. I went with Low because a bow and arrow is just my style, but whichever you pick, the other becomes your AI (or co-op) buddy. The tutorial area eases you in: you're spat out of a mirror into a dusty room, and soon you'll need to create a bridge. If you're Low, one arrow into the button does the trick; if Alone, grab that shoe and let it fly. Simple stuff, but it sets the tone—teamwork or clever aim is everything.
After crossing, I shimmied through a sandy path, climbed a ladder, and ran into Alone's first special move: smashing through a rock wall with her wrench. Three swings and we were through. Before long we reached a room with a body swinging eerily in the background, and right there in the middle sat Doll Collectible #1. No hunting required—they practically gift it to you. Grab it, then drag a crate with your partner to reveal a crawl space. This is where the real teamwork starts.
A crank-and-shoot puzzle follows: Alone turns a wheel to move a bridge, Low shoots a frayed rope to lock it in place. Then you'll spot a pressure plate with that spooky eye symbol. Pull a nearby crate onto it to open the exit. It's like the game is saying, "Think fast, stay sharp." And honestly? I loved it.
The Hunt for the Key and a Feathered Surprise
A locked door blocks your progress, and the key is helpfully dangling from a crow's beak in a room to the left. But reaching it takes some legwork. One player cranks a mechanism while the other rides a crate upward, then pulls a lever to drop a ladder. Once together, yank a plank off a doorway and face the bird. I nocked an arrow as Low—pop, crow drops the key, and we were golden.
Through the door, a quick cutscene shows Monster Baby's giant hand snatching a crow. Chills, I tell you. Then you reach a floor vent and a wardrobe. Remove a plank, and each character gets a feather umbrella. Use the umbrella to float up the vent, then zipline down to a trapdoor. Jump together to open it—tricky with AI sometimes, but doable if you're patient.
Monster Baby's First Dance
When you land, the giant baby's hand crashes through, and you've got to sprint right and use another vent to escape the collapsing roof. At the top, Alone smashes a wall, and you glide down with the umbrella. Then comes the first true hiding sequence: Monster Baby scans with a terrible spotlight eye. I kept Low and Alone behind anything that cast a shadow—crates, sacks. Inch forward when it looks away. Eventually you'll find a tile with the eye symbol; both characters stand on it, and the floor lowers you to safety. Talk about a nail-biter!
Doll #2 and Beetle Beatdown
Once the elevator floor stops, don't rush right. Instead, have Alone smash the left wall. Behind it, Doll Collectible #2 is waiting. Snatch it and then crouch through a hole. The next room spawns flying beetles—annoying critters that need a one-two punch. As Low, I'd shoot one out of the air, and Alone would pummel it with her wrench while it was belly-up. Miss the timing, and it's a restart. Four beetles later, the coast was clear.
A Staircase Doll and More Monster Hide-and-Seek
Moving outside, Monster Baby lumbers past in the distance—eerie but harmless for now. Head right and you'll spot a small staircase along the back wall. Climb it to grab Doll Collectible #3. After that, windy pathways require your umbrella again. Soon the hall rumbles: Monster Baby incoming! Sprint right and duck behind a crate until it leaves. Shortly after, in a room with a giant rattle stuck in the floor, the baby appears and yanks it free, causing the floor to collapse. Jump into the hole immediately, or get squashed.
The big guy eventually grabs you in a scripted moment. After a short cutscene where Low ends up in a cell, you awaken together. Before moving on, go left through a small hole to find Doll #4 on the floor. Then proceed to another stealth segment: Monster Baby's eye sweeps the area again. Same drill—hide and make your way to the far door.
Ringing the Bell and the Final Doll
You'll reach a dead end with a Dweller statue tied to a bell. Break its head with Alone's wrench, then Low shoots a frayed rope. The bell peals, luring Monster Baby right to you. Hide behind the crate, watch it snatch the bell, and exit through the hole it creates. Continue a few rooms, and you'll end up in an outdoor alley. Doll Collectible #5 is tucked in the left corner—the last one in the chapter. Snag it, and you've got a full set.
The Final Stand-Off with Monster Baby
The fourth encounter is a doozy. First, you'll learn to boost each other by a ladder. Outside, the spotlight returns. Hide behind crates, and at the last one, Low must shoot it down. Monster Baby will pick it up—wait until it sets it back down, then hide. Push through a heavy door, then sprint like crazy during a quick-time event to avoid being crushed. Reach the rattle platform, hide behind it, and when Monster Baby lifts the arena and scans, a crate will fall. Move behind the crate. Eventually, crows distract the baby, and it sets you down.
Keep going right until you see a hole with a rope. Equip your umbrella, jump in, and float down gracefully. At the bottom, there's a mirror. Low interacts with it, reaches for Alone, and together you're pulled through to Chapter 2: Candy Factory. What a ride! The Necropolis taught me that in Little Nightmares 3, every shadow hides a secret—and sometimes a very large, very cranky baby.
As the journey through Little Nightmares 3 continues, it's clear that every chapter brings its own blend of suspense and discovery. For fans of immersive storytelling and hauntingly beautiful worlds, this game is a must-play. Whether you're navigating the eerie Necropolis or bracing for what's next in the Candy Factory, there's no shortage of thrills to keep you hooked.
