People now treat bedding as part of their wellness routine, not just a household basic. Mattresses, sheets, pillows and toppers are being bought for how well they help people sleep. According to Grand View Research, that shift is pushing the global home bedding market toward steady, long-term growth.

Market Overview & Size

The global home bedding market was valued at USD 148.5 billion in 2025. It is estimated at USD 154.5 billion in 2026 and projected to reach USD 204.0 billion by 2033, a CAGR of 4.0% over 2026–2033.

Key numbers from the report:

  • Product: Mattresses held the largest share at 37.0% in 2025. Mattress toppers, protectors and pads are the faster-growing category, expected to grow at a 4.6% CAGR through 2033.
  • Distribution: Offline channels led with a 77.6% share in 2025, because shoppers still want to feel fabric quality and comfort before buying. Online is the fastest-growing channel at a 6.2% CAGR.
  • Region: Asia Pacific dominated with a 38.1% revenue share in 2025. North America followed with 31.5% and Europe with 22.7%. China accounts for about 44.8% of Asia Pacific, and India is expected to grow at a 4.9% CAGR.

Major Growth Drivers

  1. Growing focus on sleep quality and wellness

Consumers increasingly see bedding as part of their daily wellness routine. IKEA's Sleep Uncovered report (February 2025, 55,221 respondents across 57 markets) found people sleep about 6 hours 40 minutes a night, roughly 1 hour 20 minutes less than they want. That gap is pushing people to upgrade mattresses, pillows and linens for comfort, breathability and temperature regulation.

  1. Premiumization and demand for natural, sustainable materials

Cotton Incorporated's 2024 Global Home Textiles Survey found that 64% of U.S. consumers prefer cotton bedding. Brands are responding with organic cotton, linen, bamboo and recycled fibers. In the UK, average mattress spend rose 8.4% to £645 in 2025, and 73% of buyers said they would pay more for greener mattresses.

  1. Rising home spending and interior trends

Residential construction, renovation and décor trends, especially in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, are lifting demand for coordinated, design-led bedding. Buyers also tend to add to their basket. Per the National Bed Federation, 66% of bed or mattress buyers also bought pillows, and 49% bought a mattress protector.

  1. B2B opportunity in hospitality and institutions

Hotels, resorts and hospitals need bedding in volume and replace it often. In May 2026, Serta Simmons Bedding and Preferred Hotels & Resorts launched a mattress built for hospitality use, a sign of growing interest in durable, hygienic, commercial-grade products.

A challenge to watch

Raw material costs remain a pressure point. The World Bank reported cotton prices jumped 12% in April 2026 on tighter global supply, which adds procurement uncertainty for manufacturers.

Leading Competitive Landscape

The market is highly competitive and fragmented. Companies compete on product quality, sleep technology, premium materials, brand reputation and omnichannel reach.

Key companies profiled in the report:

  • Tempur Sealy International, Inc.
  • Sleep Number Corporation
  • Welspun Living Limited
  • Serta Simmons Bedding LLC
  • Trident Limited
  • Indo Count Industries Limited
  • Purple Innovation, Inc.
  • Casper Sleep Inc.
  • Silentnight Group Limited
  • Kingsdown, Inc.

Established players such as Tempur Sealy, Serta Simmons and Sleep Number use broad portfolios, large retail and distribution networks and sleep technology. Tempur Sealy leads on premium mattresses and proprietary technology, while Sleep Number focuses on personalized, tech-enabled sleep. Their trade-offs are higher operating costs and less reach among price-sensitive buyers.

Emerging players like Saatva, Resident Home and Casper use DTC and e-commerce models, sustainable sourcing and customization. They move faster and hold stronger niche positions, but have a smaller physical presence and higher customer-acquisition costs.

Recent moves show where competition is heading:

  • March 2026: Sleep Number redesigned its portfolio with five new beds focused on personalized adjustability and temperature benefits.
  • June 2026: Serta launched the Skechers Collection in partnership with Skechers U.S.A.
  • July 2026: Casper introduced the Cloud One mattress with Casper Core+ technology, an all-foam design that mimics the support of pocketed coils.

The Bottom Line

Sleep wellness, premiumization and sustainability are reshaping demand. Brands that combine material innovation, personalization and strong omnichannel and DTC presence, while managing raw material volatility, are best placed to capture growth through 2033.
