What The Merryweather Heist Unlocks in GTA 5 by U4GM
Getting ready for a proper dive in GTA V starts before you reach the water. In the single player campaign, finish The Merryweather Heist first, then look into buying the Sonar Collections Dock. That gives you a useful base for exploring the coast without treating every swim as a race back to the surface. If you're browsing GTA 5 Accounts while planning your next session, keep that campaign requirement in mind. Account shopping and unlocking a property in your current story save aren't the same thing.
Put the dock on your map
Your destination is Paleto Cove, on the northwestern coast. The Sonar Collections Dock costs $250,000 in game money, so check your character's balance before making the trip. Once you're there, find the property purchase marker beside the water and follow the purchase prompt. You're paying for more than somewhere to stand beside the ocean. The dock also provides access to a submersible, giving you another way to investigate deeper water. It's worth knowing what you're buying before spending that much cash.
Check your equipment before swimming out
Don't head straight offshore just because the purchase is complete. Getting access to the property and actually wearing breathing equipment are separate things. Before attempting a long dive, look closely at your character and check that the scuba equipment is present. Regular clothes alone aren't proof that you're ready. A visible air tank is a much more useful check than assuming everything worked. Keep your first test close to the dock, where getting back out is simple if something isn't right.
Check your equipment before swimming away from shore.
Test your air supply during a short, shallow dive.
Get comfortable with the controls before exploring deeper water.
Make the first dive a short one
Slip beneath the surface and watch the breath indicator rather than immediately chasing something on the seabed. With working scuba equipment, you shouldn't face the normal pressure to surface for air. If the indicator keeps dropping, return to the surface and check your setup. There's no reason to risk a long swim while you're still figuring it out. Once you're comfortable, practise descending, turning and finding your way back. Those small movements matter when a wreck catches your attention and you lose track of the coast.
Give yourself something to look for
Wrecks, hidden packages and nuclear waste barrels give an otherwise aimless swim a purpose. Pick one area instead of trying to cover the whole coastline in a single outing. Players comparing GTA V Accounts can keep that same approach in mind: decide what you'd actually enjoy doing before planning around it. For underwater trips, a clear destination and a familiar route back are enough to get started. Return to shore whenever you've had your fill, then carry on with the rest of your story.
